Water properties for betta
Any betta, whether king betta,
regular betta, or giant betta, must reside in the freshwater only. When they
live their wildlife, they live in rice paddies, slow-moving streams, shallow
swamps, and ponds. Sometime in the river as well.
Many of us already know that the water current in
ponds and streams is totally different from the tap water. Tap water has many
other additives, chemicals, and treatments that make human life no doubt
healthy, but it makes fish life unhealthy by a significant margin.
Tap water
Tap water contains chlorine in it, which makes it
sterile. This chemical, especially chlorine, will kill your betta immediately
if you don't clean the tap water before putting it in your fish tank or
aquarium.
Every water, irrespective of its nature, contains
different sources and characteristics of acidity, salts, pH, minerals, and
density. If tap water needs to be used, it should be cleaned of any dangerous
chemicals or treatment that is harmful to your fish, no matter if that water is
perfectly suitable for you and your health.
Bottled water
There are many bottled water available on the market
with labels on their packaging as betta water. These bottles are commonly seen
in pet shops, betta shops, or online.
Near to professionals and doctors, this bottled
water is the cheapest source for your betta. It may be the same as mineral
water, as it is true that bottled water has beneficial minerals which are
natural and healthy for your betta.
But if we see the pH level in bottled water, it
varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. And even slight pH water can affect
your betta in so many ways.
It is best to carry a pH device when buying water
for your betta.
Pet store water
Some pet stores have professional aquatic water,
which is pre-conditioned for bettas. This is by far different from fresh water,
but it contains the attributes suitable for bettas.
If you ever want to purchase water for your pet, do
not hesitate or give a second thought about going to the pet store and asking
them about it. They have all sorts of knowledge about every environment that
bettas should reside in. Maybe you catch up with a thing or two.
Water that bettas
should never live in
Distilled water
Distilled should be avoided all the time. It is the
worst choice when it comes down to aquarium water. They are not pure; many
treatments and chemicals are involved in them. And there are no minerals at
all.
Koi
betta fish need water minerals to
live happily and for a little longer.
Distilled water is also expensive and not worth the
money or their properties.
